HUMLA, MAR 02 - Heavy snowfall and hailstorm occurred in various districts after incessant rainfall from Sunday, affecting normal life across the country.
In Humla, normal life has been hit hard due to the as high as four feet of snowfall , forcing people to confine inside the houses. Likewise, most of the government offices are run but with very few of the service seekers due to the snowfall .
Meanwhile, Upper Myagdi witnessed heavy snowfall since Sunday morning.
The places as Gurja, Mudi and Lulang had the snowfall . The rainfall coupled with snowfall has badly affected the daily life, said a social mobilizer Ejina Roka from Mudi.
The snowfall has affected especially the children, sick ones, elderly and the livestock.
It has been raining in all districts of Dhaulagiri zone.
However, the farmers in the lower belt of Myagdi district have been happy, for the rain is beneficial to the wheat crops.

Likewise in Bardiya district, rainfall accompanied with hailstone occurring incessantly for two days here has damaged the vegetable and lentil grown in several VDCs.
According to the District Agriculture Office, Bardiya, the vegetables and lentils grown at Gola, Shibapur, Suryapatuwa, Thakurdwara, Neulapur VDCs and Gulariya municipality have been damaged with hailstone.
Agronomist at the Office, Binod Gyawali, said although the rain is very beneficial to the wheat farming, it has turned deleterious to the vegetable and legumes. He added that although no exact data on the damage was received, the rainfall with hailstone damaged almost half of the vegetables grown in three hectares of land and the legumes in 18 hectares.
Meanwhile, he informed that the number of the farmers have begun farming insurance, which have encouraged them for growing vegetable and other cash crops side by side. RSS
